The event provided a platform for legendary artists Shola Ama and Sandra Cross, whose contributions have left a lasting impact on UK Black music.
Shola Ama, known for her soulful R&B sound, rose to fame in the late 1990’s with hits like You Might Need Somebody, bringing UK R&B into the mainstream. Sandra Cross, a pioneering figure in British lovers rock, has been instrumental in defining the genre, with classics such as Country Living capturing the essence of reggae’s romantic side.
Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this milestone event honored the legacy of UK Black music, celebrating the role of DJs and sound systems in amplifying voices and preserving history.
